Week 17 of the NFL season wrapped up, and the biggest storyline is what took place on Sunday Night Football.
The Washington Football Team played the Eagles and just needed to win to claim the NFC East Division title. Giants fans were also very intrigued because they could have been NFC East champs if the Eagles beat Washington.
In what was a very ugly game, the head coach of the Eagles in Doug Pederson decided to bench Jalen Hurts for third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld in the fourth quarter. Pederson claims earlier in the week he wanted to get Sudfeld reps in this game, no matter the situation.
Sudfeld looked exactly how you’d expect, going 5/12 for 32 yards with an interception. The Eagles ended up not scoring any more points in the 2nd half and lost 20-14.
Giants fans and players were very upset by Pederson’s decision as if Pederson owed anything to Giants fans. They claimed that he lost the game on purpose and that he ruined the integrity of the game. I firmly believe Doug Pederson couldn’t care less about winning this game, and I have no problem with it. The Eagles now have a better draft pick, and if Pederson said he wanted to get Sudfield in, how can anyone be mad that he did it?
All over social media last night you saw Giants players and fans complaining about the move that Doug Pederson pulled and it’s laughable. These Giants players and fans were so entitled to thinking that the Giants deserved to be in the playoffs that they actually got mad at one of their rivals for not winning a meaningless game for them. Why don’t you get mad at the fact that your team went 6-10 and didn’t deserve to be anywhere near the playoffs.
I don’t know how this is even a conversation or that people are actually mad. Boo hoo Giants fans. The reality is, the Giants aren’t a good team and they should of won a couple more games if they wanted to be in the playoffs. Stop relying on other teams to get you in.
If Giants fans are upset at Pederson, why aren’t Dolphins fans mad at Tomlin for benching Ben when they were playing the Browns. It’s because Dolphins fans aren’t crazy. The only difference is that the Dolphins went 10-6 and actually deserved to be in or at least in contention for the playoffs.
Maybe Giants fans should start worrying more about who’s going to play quarterback for them, because “Danny Dimes” is terrible, and a huge part in why you didn’t make the playoffs. Giants offense was horrible and I’m glad I don’t have to watch them try to score points in the playoffs.
I can’t believe this once proud organization is now blaming others for them finishing four games under .500. The Giants players and fans should be embarrassed for how much they complained and whined over this.
