In one of the weirder stories I’ve heard in a while, it appears the MLB star, Albert Pujols has been lying about his age. We’ve been told and everyone thinks that Pujols is 41 years old, but according to a former MLB exec, Pujols is about 44 years old right now. He mentions that the Dominican Republic, where Pujols is from, used to do a bunch of shady things like changing names and birthdays.
This whole situation reminds me of the movie Benchwarmers where Carlos plays on the little league team by writing “I am 12” on a piece of paper and slipping the ump a $10 bill.

While this doesn’t seem like a huge story, this would mean that Pujols signed his massive 10yr./$240 million dollar contract with the Angels when he was 34, not 32. I think the Angels didn’t expect to get much out of Pujols at the end of the contract, but they also thought he was going to be 42 not 45.
I don’t know how big of a deal Pujols would of gotten but I certainly know he wouldn’t of got ten years.
This makes you think, who else in the MLB is lying about their age, or doesn’t even know their age?
This could be a big deal going forward. Hopefully with the young players coming out now, the date of birth is correct. As for the older players in the league, you just have to hope that their age isn’t off by so much that it deeply affects their contracts.
